I'm Augustin Kendall, the editor behind Clarify Editing.
I am in love with words, as a reader, a writer, and an editor. I appreciate the way writing expands our world and connects us to each other. Over time, I have crafted this love into a profession with training, practice, more training, and more practice. My training includes academic education in the humanities, professional certification in all levels of editing, and on-the-job learning about content strategy.
I have ten years of experience editing books for self-published authors, website content, and articles across many subjects and industries.
When working with fiction, I aim to immerse myself in the setting or world you've created and consider my edits from that perspective. I offer specific feedback, both praise and critique, designed to help educate you about writing practices as well as improve your current manuscript.
With nonfiction and websites, I always consider your writing from your point of view as well as your readers' experience. I think about what you want to say, how your words reflect who you are, what your audiences want to hear, and how they best receive information.
Whether you’re crafting a creative masterpiece or trying to educate the public about the merits of adopting a greyhound vs. an Australian cattle dog, I can help you say what you mean.

I live in Seattle and am from the East coast. When I can, I get out of the city and into the woods. This photo of me was taken in one of my favorite spots about an hour east and north of the city.
I work with writers all over the country. In my spare time, I read psychology, philosophy, fiction, science fiction/fantasy, and nonfiction (often focused on social justice).
If you’re local, I’m happy to meet in person to discuss your work. If you’re not, we can use videoconferencing and email to work together.
